About the Author

Since 1989, Sandra P. Riggin has worked as a counselor and case manager in several large rehabilitation, medical and counseling centers, providing therapeutic services to people with emotional, psychiatric, and developmental disorders.

Sandy currently works as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia. She maintains two private counseling practices helping people who were abused, neglected, and/or traumatized in childhood to find healing. She not only provides individualized counseling, but also group and family therapy. She also offers workshops to professionals and abuse survivors alike.

As a Licensed Professional Counselor Sandy has also counseled children who were in child protective services as a result of being physical, emotional, and/or sexual abused and/or neglected.

Sandy graduated from Armstrong State College in 1988 with a Bachelor Degree in Psychology (BA). Her graduate studies were completed at the University of Georgia in 1992 where she obtained a Master of Education in Rehabilitation Counseling (MEd). She became a Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) in 1992 and a Certified Case Manager in (CCM) in 1993. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in October of 1999. In addition to her mainstream post-secondary education, Sandy obtained an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies from the Mustard Seed Bible Institute in 1996 and her Doctorate of Ministry in Christian Counseling (DMin) from the Jacksonville Theological Seminary in 2006.

Sandy’s most recent accomplishment is her book called, Breaking the Cycle: A Step By Step Guide to Healing From Childhood Abuse, Neglect and Trauma. This book provides step by step instructions on how to recover from childhood abuse, neglect and/or trauma. It is intended to help break the cycle of abuse and to help people recover from the painful things that happened to them in their childhood.

Sandy is also known for her book entitled, Forbidden Memories: A Journey of Healing. This book was written to break the silence of childhood abuse so abuse survivors could feel free enough to talk about the things that happened to them and to tell their own stories. It outlines the insights Sandy gained as went through her own healing process.
